Industrial Floor Stripper for Sohar Plant Floors and Ship Galleys

October 26, 2026

Floor Stripper close up in its supplied form, Oman

If your plant floor or ship galley deck has years of yellowed polish or a greasy haze that scrubbing will not shift, our heavy duty Floor Stripper takes off the old finish so you can clean down to the bare surface and recoat. It is a highly concentrated synthetic blend of detergents, alkaline salts, emulsifier and chelating agents, and it removes all types of waxes and finishes from tiles, concrete, wood and other hard floors. We supply it from our Barka warehouse to Sohar and the rest of Al Batinah.

Why old floor finish has to come off

Floor finish wears out. Over time it can turn yellow and build a haze, and dirt gets trapped between the coats. If burnishing or polishing no longer brings the floor back, you need to strip the finish and recoat.

In Sohar this comes up in two places. The first is plant floors in the Sohar industrial zone, such as control rooms, laboratories, canteens, workshops and office corridors on steel, aluminium, refinery and petrochemical sites. Foot traffic and tracked-in dust wear the finish down there. The second is vessels calling at Sohar port, where galley, mess room and cabin decks build up grease and layer after layer of polish between dry dock periods.

Scrubbing harder does not fix it. Extra scrubbing costs labour time and can scratch and damage the surface. A heavy duty stripper does the work chemically, so the machine and pad only have to agitate the solution and lift the softened finish.

What our Floor Stripper does

Floor Stripper is a concentrated, low foaming alkaline compound for cleaning hard floors. It removes all kinds of floor polish, and it works the same on 1 coat of floor polish as on 10. You can use it on lino, marley tiles, quarry tiles, wood block, concrete and other hard floors. It also works as a stain remover on these surfaces.

The product does three jobs:

  • It strips all types of waxes and finishes.
  • It degreases where regular cleaners are unsuitable.
  • It means you no longer have to buy and stock a separate product for each of those jobs.

The degreasing job matters on board. A galley deck carries cooking grease as well as polish, and one container handles both. Because it foams little, the spent solution is easier to pick up with a mop or wet vacuum.

How to strip a floor with it

Stripping takes three steps: apply the floor stripper and agitate it, remove the floor stripper from the floor, then rinse the floor and neutralise the floor stripper. How well the job goes depends on the preparation you do before the first step.

Prepare the area like this:

  1. Clean the floor and remove as much dirt and debris as possible.
  2. Vacuum or dust mop the floor to remove dust. Spray the dust mop with dust mop treatment so it picks up as much dust as possible.
  3. Remove anything stuck to the floor, because it will gum up or rip the floor pad.
  4. Make sure no traffic moves through the area while you work. Put out warning signs so everyone knows the area is closed.

For the job you need a mop bucket, a cotton or blended mop, a floor machine (175-300rpm's) and a black or hi-pro stripping floor pad.

The right dilution depends on the surface and on how many coats of finish are on the floor. Tell us the floor type and its condition when you ask for a quote and we will confirm how to use the product on your job.

A few points apply to any alkaline stripper. Work in sections small enough that the solution does not dry on the floor. Rinse thoroughly with clean water before recoating, because alkaline residue left on the floor can stop the new finish bonding. On wood block, leave the solution on the surface only as long as needed and do not flood the joints.

Handling and safety on site and on board

Alkaline floor strippers can irritate skin and eyes. Wear chemical-resistant gloves such as nitrile, eye protection and non-slip footwear, because a wet stripped floor is slippery. In a ship galley or an enclosed plant room, keep air moving while you work and while the floor dries.

In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and get medical advice. Follow your site's safe-handling procedures before first use.
