Read full description →The average size and surface area of produced iron nanoparticles at the optimum SDS surfactant concentration are 12 nm and 70 m²/g, respectively. Removal ability of synthesised iron nanoparticles against nitrate and mercury ions is also investigated. Results show that small quantities of as-prepared iron nanoparticles can remediate nitrate and mercury solutions to standard levels without having to control the solution pH.
Mercuric nitrate appears as a white crystalline solid. Toxic by inhalation, ingestion and/or skin contact. Prolonged exposure to fire or heat may result in an explosion. Produces toxic oxides of nitrogen when heated to decomposition. Used to make other chemicals and in medicine.
The more commonly reported estimated lethal dose of ingested mercury I chloride in an adult is 1 to 2 grams or 10 to 42 mg mercury/kg.
