Read full description →The present invention provide a method for the industrial production of L-isoleucine which is useful as pharmaceuticals, foods, feed additives and the like. The method comprises cultivating in a nutrient medium a microorganism belonging to the genus Escherichia which is capable of rapidly growing in a medium containing L-homoserine as the single nitrogen source and has an ability to produce L-isoleucine in the medium, producing and accumulate L-isoleucine in a culture and recovering L-isoleucine therefrom.
