Trimethylene glycol is a chemical compound with similar properties to propylene glycol. It is a bio-based polyether polyol. 

Properties
It is also known as 1,3-propanediol. 
It has similar chemical and physical properties to propylene glycol (1,2-propanediol). 
It is not optically active like propylene glycol. 
It was first observed as a fermentation product in 1881. 
It is a product of the spontaneous fermentation of soap lyes.
