Water reducible alkyds are basically conventional alkyd resins (i.e., polyesters based on saturated or unsaturated oils or fatty acids, polybasic acids and alcohols) modified to confer water miscibility.
It is recommended to use in high performance protective coating and steel structure coating for indoor and outdoor metal equipments, can be used as primers and topcoats.
Water based alkyd resin gives excellent application properties for brush, roller and spray. High gloss can be easily achieved due to the leveling capability of the alkyd, and adhesion to a variety of substrates. Excellent chemical resistance, hardness development and water resistance are developed over a short time period through oxidative crosslinking (depending on humidity and temperature).
Water based alkyd resin WL-310 is a modified alkyd emulsion diluted with water neutralized by ammonia, containing a small amount of co-solvent. This product reduces the content of organic volatiles (VOC) on the coating surface. Meanwhile, it combines the characteristic of fast drying, with the good film performances .
